Carly Sylvester, a specialist in beauty treatment claims, and a winner at the 2023 National Personal Injury Awards, has achieved another success.
Carly’s client had been receiving facial waxing for a long time. However, on the day her regular salon was closed, she decided to try somewhere else for a change.
When the treatment began, she quickly realised something was going wrong. She had never experienced so much pain during her other waxing sessions. She voiced her concerns to the beautician, who reassured her that everything was going well and that the pain was to be expected.
Carly’s client did not question it further and because a mirror was not provided to view the treated areas she had no idea what it looked like.
It was only when she returned home that she became aware that the pain she had experienced was not typical, and that she had been left with burns.
Our client was initially apprehensive about making a compensation claim, but she had suffered burns to both her cheekbone and below her bottom lip, subsequently leaving her with scar tissue and hyper-pigmentation. She was also concerned that by signing a consent form prior to the facial waxing treatment, she would be prevented from pursuing a legal claim.
However, after calling our free national helpline and talking it over with our specialist beauty treatment claims team, she decided to proceed.
We advised her that despite signing a waiver, she was still entitled to make a compensation claim against the salon that had administered the negligent beauty treatment.
Carly agreed to take the case on and to work on a No Win, No Fee basis. so there was no financial risk to the client.
The case was successful and the client received an out of court compensation settlement.
